Women Entrepreneurship and Ethics

Abstract

Women Entrepreneurship and Ethics in the western civilisation and democracies want to be food for thought on how stereotypes work on societies historically. Based on the Athenian Democracy and the Aristotelian Philosophy, we explore the historical /traditional role of women in society and discuss: (1) how this role impedes female entrepreneurship even today; (2) how our conception of democracy supports this impediment. Our discussion will explore possibilities to change to create a breakthrough concept into a new understanding of women in society in a new paradigm regarding the future of democracy. We will discuss:
Stereotypes and stereotypical thinking
Aristotelian Philosophy and its understanding in the Middle Ages (i.e. Averroes, Thomas Aquinas)
Democracy, Republic and Paternalism
Fem-entrepreneurship and Ethics
Issues with gender and digitalisation in our lives

Bio: Marianthe Stavridou is Head of Business Ethics at CCRS. She studied Linguistics and History at the University of Bern (Switzerland), Sociology and Law in Milan and Rome (Italy) and Corporate Communications and Sustainable Finance at the University of Zurich (Switzerland). Prior to CCRS, she worked in different institutes, think tanks and the private sector. Her research interests include social resilience, migration, entrepreneurship, inclusive growth, SMEs, the SDGs, and business ethics.
